Soo busy!!!

I am so sorry, but I have three tests in a row...not fun.
Bus Adventures for yesterday:
Morning: boring...everybody slept...seriously...except that we "celebrated" a birthday with cookies!
Afternoon: We had brownies (supplied by the birthday boy) that were really, really good...even though they didn't look so appetizing...

Bus Adventures for today:
Morning: Er, well, um, I was tired! Um, yeah, so, um, okay, um...zzz...no logic...please...zzz...zzz
Afternoon: Unfortunately, I don't ride Bus 682 on Wednesdays in the afternoon. If you really, really want to know, then readers from bus 682, please COMMENT!!!

Anyways...lots of fun, but I may or may not be able to blog everyday now. With the first quarter of school coming to a close (time flew!), there are test, quizzes, labs, etc. that need to be finished...so, lots of work, but Halloween is in ONE WEEK!!!
I know, I know, I am in high school and I am dressing up to go trick-or-treating, but, HELLO, free candy!! Though, if you do go trick-or-treating, you have to dress up. It's no fair to those of us who did to dress up for you to get all the candy without dressing up. This is the one time of year (besides homecoming week) when you can go all out!!
Did you know that Americans spend at least a million (maybe billion) dollars on one day - HALLOWEEN!!!

Another test to study for,

With Autumn Comes Changes...

If you haven't already noticed, I change the format of the archives. Since there were SO many blogs, the archives window was being expanded and expanded. Now, the posts will be archived weekly. If you're looking for something that was written in this month, you will now have to look for it weekly. Thankfully, there's only three to four weeks a month!

Bus Adventures: Day 6

Morning:
This morning was amazingly strange. It felt like there was no time difference at all. It was dark still, but the sun soon came out and if felt like we were running late all of a sudden! We were talking about the strangest subjects in small groups. I know there was something I wanted to report about, but I just can't remember anymore...it'll come to me tomorrow morning...!
Afternoon:
This afternoon was filled with the strangest conversations, again. We were talking about the buddy-buddy system, people we know, the class election speeches, and other strange topics. We were so loud that the upperclassmen told us to "Shut up, there are people trying to sleep!"
Okay, maybe not that curtly, but that was the gist of it!

Once again, homework beckons,

Two Polls...the Results

"Where would you like to visit?"
Rome - 2
China - 1
Hawaii - 4
Other - 5

My personal choice was visiting Hawaii. I have been always wanted to visit Hawaii, breathe in the floral scented air, and just relax on the beautiful beaches. I also have always wanted to try surfing (I probably will fall right off!) after my cousins told me that they had tried it. I would also visit the volcanoes and hike/climb to the top of one to see the sunrise.

"How do you feel about high school?"
I loved every minute of it! - 0
It was okay. - 2
I am so scared to go! -1
I am having so much fun! -5
What's high school? or I am not having fun. -2

Apparently, no post-high school-ers really had a super great time. That sounds kind of scary... Anyways, since I am in high school, only the last two really apply to me. However, I am having so much fun at high school. Sure, the homework load is...pretty big...it's still a lot of fun! As you can see, I have been blogging about the bus ride there, because I am sure if I blogged about the actual school, half of y'all would fall asleep!

What a weekend!

I have decided to blog only once during the course of the weekend because of homework beckoning in the distance.
Anyways, if you are looking for a great party idea to get a small group together, try a dinner club. Dinner clubs should ideally be small so that you can all talk to each other, instead of having to mingle with a crowd of more. This is good for those who don't really like to go up to people and talk. Each meeting, the host family can buy the ingredients for a dinner beforehand, and everyone can lend a hand in making it when they get there. Older children can take charge of a certain aspect of the dinner, like a mini-appetizer. Moms can do one part of the meal, and Dads can do the other. This is a great way to talk to people, as well as be part of something. When choosing a recipe/theme for the food, try something new. For instance, if you do an Asian theme, try to cook foods that you normally wouldn't or foods that you haven't had before. A great place of inspiration: a favorite restaurant. However, steer clear of fast food joints and places that serve burgers, etc. It will make the experience a lot more fun.
Above all else, try to talk, get to know the people in your dinner club. Draw the shyer folks out of their shells and get them to loosen up. Have activities planned in case there is a lull, and just have fun!

To go, or to not go; that is the question.

What do you do if someone asks you to go to a movie with them, but you don't like them and you're afraid that it will be to awkward?
Well, maybe you should just tell yourself that you are going together as friends and not friends. That should soothe your conscience...or not. Surprisingly, it is possible for a guy and a girl to go to the movies together as friends! Amazing! Not everything has a hidden meaning! If you two have a good time when in a group, extend the invitation to others whom you hang around with to keep it from getting to awkward. However, make sure that you don't invite all of your friends because then, it's like the person never asked you. Try not to hurt their feelings and just go and have a great time!

Bus 682 Adventures: Day 5

Hurray! We made it to the end of the week! Can you believe it?

Morning: Today, the bus was silent. Seriously, it was like we had walked into a vacuum and there was no air for the sound to travel through.

Afternoon: I, at least, was bouncing up and down the aisle because it was "Friesday!" Hurrah, hurray! Everyone was in high moods and there was food going around and around the freshmen section. Apples, pears, granola balls, and pretzels were going around.

Mmm, sounds good! Can't wait for Monday. Actually, I guess I could wait for Monday! IT'S THE WEEKEND!!
BTW, sorry, I didn't have time to finish this yesterday!

Guys...hearts, heartaches, and heartbreaks

So, I got this request for some help...
"this guy likes me, but i don't like him. before homecoming he was flirting with me and asked me. i was going to say yes and give him a chance, but here's how he asked me: "Hey, will u go 2 homecoming with me? My girlfriend can't come." WHAT A JERK! so now he keeps trying to flirt with me, i don't know what to do! i heard him talking to his friend in class and guess what he said: "Oh, yeah, I'm just going out with (insert my name) cause shes the best i can do." and i repeat, what a jerk! then there's the guys i actually like. number 1 was previously dating 2 of my friends. hes my total opposite in looks, but he is the sweetest guy ever! i think he likes me, we're good friends, but maybe I'm being too optimistic. number 2 is currently dating 1 of my friends. hes sweet and kind of cute, but sadly unattainable. number 3 is a really cute junior who rides my bus. i gathered info on him from miscellaneous sources(mostly in the drama department). hes sweet and is in the improv troop."

Okay anonymous, this guy who is your supposed "boyfriend" is a jerk.
As for guy number 3, do you really connect, or is it just a small passing crush. If it lasts for more than a month, you might want to ask yourself, does he even acknowledge you exist? That's the danger of older guys. Sure, they may have grown up a lot faster, they have cars (some), and they are HOT!! But, realistically, do they want to date a younger girl? If you think they guy will say no, save yourself some heartbreak...move on with your life and don't worry, it's not the end of the world.
Guy number 2, you know the cardinal rule for friends (whether spoken or unspoken), "Hands off your girlfriend's guy!" He's sweet, cute, and outta your league. Don't give up on a friendship just because of a guy. Heck, there's a whole lotta fish in the sea. If this one doesn't bite, don't worry, another will come along soon.
Guy number 1, first of all, looks don't matter. What does is friends: if your friends who previously dated him has a problem, maybe another guy would be better. If your friends have no objections to you flirting with him or possibly dating him...then, girl, he is available to crush on!! However, don't feel like the guy has to make the first move. If you really like him, maybe its time to show some "signs" but all in all, it's up to you.

Bus 682 Adventures: Day 4

Morning:
Wow, I really am the life of the party. I couldn't even stay awake to write for the blog! If any bus riders have and comments, please feel free to.
Afternoon: Yeah, I am the life of the party...I was too sleepy to do anything but eat and rest again. Yup, the life of the party...

Tomorrow will be a lot less sleepy...promise!

Why is the title of my blog Ask Little Star?

Well, the name I go by on this blog is Little Star and the ask part, well, it sounds sort of self explanatory!
If you need someone to listen or offer advice, just write a comment. If you don't want it published (I try to publish all the comments that don't offer offensive material), just write that and I won't. I can publish a post to offer advice not on such a personal level, but in general that can help you individually as well.
So, ask Little Star, and ye shall recieve...an answer...
BTW, if you haven't already noticed, this page will only show 8 posts. The older posts can still be found in the archive. If you click on a post's title, the webpage will show only that post and all the comments. To get back to the main page, click on another post in the archive or on the month.

Bus 682 Adventures: Day 3

Today was a crazy day! Since the sophomores and juniors had their PSAT today, everyone got out of school at 12:00!!
Morning:
The bus was buzzing with excitement, fear, and anticipation for the day. The sophomore and junior sections were comparing the times they went to bed and who studied and who didn't...
The rest of the bus was just as jumpy, we were so excited to get out of school at 12:00 instead of 3:50! Who wouldn't be?!
Afternoon:
It was really strange to go home at 12:00 and everyone was jumping with energy...at least, in the freshmen section we were! Again, some did Soulja Boy down the aisle, but that ended soon. Next, there was a Who-can-stay-standing-the-longest contest which was ended by a turn off the highway. Needless to say, I came in second because I fell on the turn. Those things are the extreme test of balance. Earlier, the Sam kid had left the contest because she landed on the seat in front of her. Yup, work on your balance!

Trying not to fall,

The Environment continued...

So, as I was looking at the results of the environment poll, I noticed most chose the second option, Global warming is occuring and is a threat...(along the lines of that, I forget the actual wording). One reader pointed out that in order for recycling to really take off, we need to incorporate more recycling programs. All of the biodegradable items should be taken to farms, perhaps, to decompose to make nutrient rich soil. What's the point in letting it decompose in a landfill with concrete walls? Where would the nutrients go? To me, at least, it makes much more sense to donate to farms.
What do you think?
(write a comment!!)

Bus 682 Adventures: Day 2

Morning:
Today, again, the bus was active in the morning. We had a full freshmen section (12 people, 6 guys and 6 girls) and while a few were sleeping or doing homework, the rest where chatting amongst ourselves. We recieved information about tomorrow's dismissal (the sophomores and juniors are taking the PSAT so everyone gets out about three hours early) and word that we were going to have a mini bus-evacuation drill.
When we got to the school, the front half of the bus got off as normal and the back half got to climb out the back!!

Afternoon:
Today, I didn't really pay too much attention to what was going on (if you give me a book, you better say good-bye; I won't pay any attention to you at all). If any readers from Bus 682 know what happened, just email me or write a comment!

Reading away,

United blogs!

Today is the day that over 1,000 blogs are blogging about the same topic. Ask Little Star is a proud participator in this event. This year's theme/topic: the Environment.
Instead of me spewing junk on my opinions, I want to hear from you. At the bottom of this screen is a poll asking for your opinion. Please add to this topic by posting a comment. I can't wait to hear what you think!

Bus 682 Adventures: Day 1

Wow, everyone was so nice about me writing about them that I can now start my chronicles about Bus 682 today!
Morning:
This morning was livelier than usual considering that four of us freshmen were in Latin 2 and had a large map project due. We sat there comparing maps and discussing what the others might have. Finally, we all settled down to rest for a short 10 minutes before we got to school
Afternoon:
This afternoon, we were bouncing off the wall with sugar and energy we were bouncing from seat front to seat back to the bus wall to the aisle and the person sitting across the aisle. One freshman was sketching cartoon/caricatures of some kids and the Sam kid was begging to be drawn. The artist put off and put off drawing Sam until there was no time left at all. The artist was forced to agree to draw Sam tomorrow! There were a few minor "fights" (we prefer the word 'lively debates' rather than 'fight' because fight sounds violent - not that it wasn't...), but overall, just another regular ride.

If you were wondering about the buddy-buddy system, I'll explain it to you. The buddy-buddy system is a way to rank the closeness of two people, hence the name buddy-buddy system. However, you can add up to ten 'buddy' s to signify a boyfriend-girlfriend relationship. You always have one buddy that means friend (not ranking of closeness) in each buddy-buddy-etc. that you have. Here is a breakdown of the buddy-buddy system:
Buddy : friend
Buddy-buddy : close friend
Buddy-buddy-buddy : close, close friend
Buddy-buddy-buddy-buddy : close, close, close friend

Basically you add another 'close' to the meaning for every 'buddy' that you add to the phrase.
The formula is:
Buddy + (rank of closeness)buddy = (number of 'buddy' added)close + friend
For example:
For a rank of pretty close friends or a ranking of 4 (on a scale of 1-10 with 1 being just a friend and 10 being girlfriend-boyfriend), you might say
Buddy + (4)buddy = (4)close + friend
Buddy + buddy+buddy+buddy+buddy = close+close+close+close + friend
Buddy-buddy-buddy-buddy-buddy = close, close, close, close friend

NOTE: the buddy-buddy system is more for a girl and guy, but can be used for a girl and girl or a guy and guy without a ranking of 10

So, there's the buddy-buddy system, don't worry, there won't be a test on it!

Wow! Bus 682 Craziness, here we come!

Due to public demand (you readers!) I have decided to start chronicling Bus 682's adventures, craziness, and riders. This will start on Tuesday. I will try to post two items a day, one about Bus 682, the other about random subjects. Thanks for your input!
I still can't believe I have a blog. If I know your email address, you probably got something from me announcing it, but still...wow!
One reader asked me to describe the characters. As much as I want to, I believe in privacy so I will get the freshmen on bus 682 to sign a sheet saying they allow me to blog about them. Yes, I could technically blog about them, but it's just a "nicety" (is that even a word? It is now!)
So, because I am writing about a high school bus, please let me know your opinion on high school! Also, don't forget about the other poll, be nice and participate in both!
Thanks,
Little Star

Amazing bus rides...

All right, if ya'll want to know about the ah-maze-ing bus ride to my high school, prepare yourself for a whirlwind!
Mornings:
The bus gets to my stop around 6:55 so everyone at my stop has to be there by 6:50. The last stop is around 7:10-7:15 for those who are running late.
By the time we actually hit the road, half of the bus is sleeping, a quarter is doing homework, and the last quarter is talking quietly with friends. The morning ride is boring and seems to take forever, which seeems like a good thing when you have homework!!
Afternoons:
This is where the party is! The bus leaves school at 4:00 and by 4:05, we are all laughing, talking, pigging out on left over lunch, and having a great time. We have had so many fun things, once someone brought his guitar and serenaded us with the Delilah song. One afternoon, someone had an iPod with Soulja Boy on it so we hooked it up to a mini speaker that my friend had. There were people dancing in the aisle, flailing around, falling into seats, and having the time of their lives. We also have had tons of "who-can-stay-standing-the-longest-when-the-bus-is-moving" contests. The most unlikely people seem to have great balance (*cough*Sam*cough*)!
We "debate" about the most random things (making it great stuff to talk about on this blog) including the topic of best frosting color on those oh-so-good cookies from Sam's Club. I definately think pink is the best, but I have a weak spot for pink things! Some crazies on the bus (you know who you are!!) like the yellow frosting and others still like the blue.

This is just some of the crazy things we do when going to school on our yellow school bus.
"We all live in a yellow school bus, a yellow school bus, a yellow school bus, oh, we all live in a yellow school bus... on our way to high school!"
If you have any crazy bus stories from bus 682 or others, just let me know in a comment! I might do a post about all the other stories if I get enough comments!
GtG, the bus is here!

Great minds think alike!

If you haven't checked out the links, there is this awesome blog for kids. If you look at that blog, you can see the author's ideas on great music and books. Keep checking for more things all about the kids at The Kids Spot. You can reach that blog by clicking on the link or by going to http://www.kidspartyhouse.blogspot.com/

Another great blog that I have on my links is for deals on all the greatest things. If you're looking for a gift for a mom, dad, aunt, uncle, or someone else, he has some great ideas for you! Paul (the author of the blog) was even ahead of the tide in the style of Crocs, the oh-so fugly (funky and ugly), comfy, boat shoes. You can reach that blog by clicking on the link or by going to www.askmypaul.com

Don't forget to check the polls out! I want to hear from all of you so much that I couldn't wait for the week to be up so I could put up a new poll. Now, there's two polls to check out: Where would you like to visit and How do you feel about high school.
For the high school poll, it doesn't matter if you have already passed through high school, or you are in it right now, or you are going into high school. Just let me know your honest opinion, that's all I ask!

First Blog, First Ideas, First Thoughts

Wow! Never thought I would have my own blog!! This is amazing, this time that we are growing up in. A hundred years ago, if you told someone that they could send a "letter" across the world in a few seconds, they would have laughed you out of the country!!
Anyways, going along with the "new century, new technology" theme, I got this awesome book called TOtlTxt Messaging (no author, but published by Castle Books) that teaches you all the "tricks of the trade" so to speak. It is definately one book that will interest the teens of this century and even their parents! Although, I guess the teens don't really need it, they seem to have this wierd way with technology. They can pick up something and get it to work in under 5 minutes while leaving their parents searching through the handbook for 5 days.
There are hundreds of mini-text-pics that you can "draw" on your phone.

()_*__*_() (grinning from ear to ear!)

___m_oLo_m___ (a person spying over a wall)

Question: WotsTLngsWrd?
what's the longest word?
Answer: :-)s cosThers A MIL BtwnT1st&LstLtrs
Smiles because there's a mile between the 1st and last letters

These are only a few of the different faces, text jokes, and others included in this awesome book.
I guess that's the end of this first blog!
